Acts 9:17: “Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Per Acts 9:17, Jesus commissioned and sent Ananias, who was NOT an Apostle,
to lay his hands on Saul so that he would receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus did NOT send one of His Apostles to lay hands on Saul to receive the Holy Spirit, He sent a “lowly” Disciple.
How is this possible if (as the New Apostolic Church claims) Jesus needed (and still needs) the Apostle ministry (and only the Apostle ministry) for laying hands on people to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit?
Was Jesus wrong, did Jesus make a mistake by sending the wrong ministry to lay hands on Saul to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit?
Or is the New Apostolic Church doctrine wrong?
Contrary to their teaching, is the truth that the gifts of the Holy Spirit can be received through whomever or by whatever means Jesus Christ wants to use, including other Christian Churches and ministries?
Jesus even gave Cornelius and his entire household (who were all Gentiles) the gifts of the Holy Spirit while Apostle Peter (and those with him) stood there in disbelief and watched as they received the Holy Spirit in the same exact manner as Peter and the rest of Jesus Apostles did (directly from God). Acts 10: 44-47
Based on God’s Word as given in Holy Scripture, who is wrong, Jesus Christ or the New Apostolic Church?
