New Apostolic Church USA
April 15, 2008
Dear Brothers and Sisters.
With the sanction and blessing of our Chief Apostle Leber and all District Apostles of English speaking districts, it is with great pleasure that we present to you our New English Hymnal. This new hymnal is an international initiative for the English speaking congregations and will replace our current congregational hymnal of 22 years.
Contents The contents of the new hymnal consist of 50% of hymns from our current hymnal and 50% of new Christian songs and hymns; new lyrics and compositions, and known hymns from previous hymnals. Also included is The Lord's Prayer (NKJV) which will serve for the divine services in our church.
Roll-out Please introduce and implement using the new hymnal right away in the congregation as there are enough known hymns to allow for a smooth transition. By Sunday, May 11, 2008, all congregations should only be using the New English Hymnal and all other current hymnals (brown) should be discarded or taken home.
Each member in the congregation will receive the New English Hymnal free of charge. This hymnal becomes their personal hymnal and not the property of the congregation. The quantity shipped has also taken into account congregational guest attendance and books for altar use.
Format There are two formats of the hymnal available; hymnal, which is the same format for both choir and congregational use, and a larger organ copy, which should remain at the organ and/or piano and not be removed from the church.
Hymnals for purchase Additional hymnals or organ copies may be ordered through the rector, by visiting the church web store www.nac-usa.org or by calling 1-866-NAC-1436.
Hymnal - $9.00, reference SKU # MU-0203
Organ Copy - $TBD, reference SKU # MU-0204 (one copy per cong shipped by June 1)
Resources A cross-reference index comparing our current hymnal (brown) to the New English Hymnal is attached to assist you in selecting hymns. Feel free to register after May 5, 2008 at www.musiccompanion.org to access the cross-reference index and concordance, as well as to listen and view music and much more.
We are very excited about our New English Hymnal and hope and pray that it will serve as a wonderful enhancement in our divine services. We thank you for your support and patience in implementing new hymns and new music in the congregation for the joy and spiritual growth of music in God's Work.
