Who will be tasked with teaching?
31:18 Question: So, Chief Apostle, given the increasing education of our members, do you ever see the New Apostolic Church switching from lay ministers to full-time, paid, university educated ministers?
Chief Apostle Schneider: Oh, now! hahahaha For sure, for sure, we do have the need, the church does have the need to increase the knowledge of our brothers to have powerful preaching. So, I think it's good that we increase and we teach our brothers who are called to serve at the altar. But, once again, don't mix up things. The important thing is the message. I, talking about, it's also a big issue in Europe, “Should we study Theology?” And I always say, “Theology is like grammar and spelling, you know?” You can do without. Sometimes it a little bit difficult to understand when somebody has no notion of grammar. And of spelling: "What does it say?" "What did you write?" "I do not understand." But, you can do without. The most important thing is the message. But, if you are good in grammar and in spelling, the message is the same, but it is more clear and easier to understand.
It's exactly the same with Theology. It's not the important thing. The important thing is the message. And that's inspired by the Holy Spirit. Has always been, and will remain inspired by the Holy Spirit. But, if telling the message we are able to say it and to share it in a nice and good manner without telling nonsense, it's nice, too. So, but, that we can do, too, without studying at the university. And, without having professional priests. That's not the way I see the church in the future. (Applause)
